Community.Knights are called to serve others. Our first principle is Charity – at home with our families and in our communities. When Knights of Columbus members come together they accomplish great things.

Helping HandsOverview:
Put your faith into action and help people who are less fortunate in your community. In the spirit of our founder, Venerable Michael J. McGivney, councils lead efforts to assist those most in need. Guidelines for this program are broad and can include forming partnerships with local aid organizations or independently planning unique activities. Our KofC council has recently introduced this program and has partnered with the Rustico Bay Seniors Club and North Rustico Seniors club on small repairs and chores. We hope to work with other community non profit organizations as our program expands. |
Leave no neighbour behindOverview:
As we begin a new Fraternal year (2020-2021), the Knights of the Columbus continue to step Into the Breach and Leave No Neighbor Behind!. As the coronavirus pandemic continues, our duty is to lead our families, protect our parishes, and serve our communities, remembering always that where there’s a need, there’s a Knight. Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson has challenged Knights to take this moment as an opportunity to “deepen our commitment to the very principles which define us: charity, unity and fraternity.” Knights of Columbus Order wide are encouraged to serve and sacrifice for those around us. many, including in our own councils and parishes, are isolated and alone in quarantine. Food banks, blood centers, and other essential services have been depleted of their vital supplies. There are many people and places that require urgent help. As we look to the coming months, the Knights of Columbus will be on the forefront of helping their communities recover from this pandemic. Our KofC council is developing a phone tree to reach out initially to our KoC members to provide support in the event of another lock down due to the Covid 19 pandemic. We hope to expand this initiative to include the parish and community as conditions allow. |
Remembering VeteransOverview:
The philosophy behind “Serving Those Who Served” is simple: the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces didn’t let our country down on the battlefield, and the Knights of Columbus will not let these veterans down now. The Knights of Columbus will be honoring our veterans this year by erecting a field of crosses at the cenotaph in North Rustico from Friday to Friday the week of Remembrance Day. The combined communities of North Rustico, Rustico and Hope River have witnessed over 440 men and women in the service of our country since the Boer War. The Knights of Columbus believes that with the passing of time, we are forgetting these brave soldiers and their service and we want to bring them back into the forefront this Remembrance Day and for years to come. There will be an individualized cross for each of the more than 440 men and women who have served with our military and who have passed from this life, may they rest in peace. We will remember them. The link below contains a list of the veterans that we have identified thus far. If you have a loved one who enlisted from our communities and has served and died, and their name is not on this list, please let us know. |
